The Minnesota 4-H State Shooting Sports & Wildlife Invitational was held Sept. 6-8 in Alexandria in Douglas County with 746 youth from 51 counties participating in the following events: BB gun, Standard Air Rifle, 3 Position Air Rifle, Air Pistol, .22 Rifle, Muzzle loading, Trap, Silhouette, Wildlife Calling, Skillathon and Conservation/Wildlife Displays.
Youth had the opportunity to showcase their skills that have been learned throughout the past year, as they spent 15 or more hours working with a trained instructor in their discipline of interest.
Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Invitational participants from Crow Wing County included Independent members Cam Walkowiak, David Schroeder, Alyssa Burley and Abbie Burley, and Nathan Anderson of the Pelican Lakes 4-H Club.
The conservation board received third place for their Adopt-a-River project.
Walkowiak received a sixth-place ribbon in Archery. Alyssa Burley received a fourth-place ribbon in Archery. Schroeder received second place in .22 Rifle and fifth place in Black Powder.
