JoAnn Weaver of Breezy Point recently taught Deanne Trottier’s third-grade class at Eagle View Elementary School about composting.

A Crow Wing County Master Gardener, Weaver taught students why people recycle and how composting is “nature’s way of recycling.” Students learned what materials can be recycled and composted, as well as the basics of getting started.

The Pequot Lakes PTA gave a grant to help with this project, and Trottier’s class hopes to work with other teachers and kitchen staff to go schoolwide with its composting project.
