Plans for GullView Lodge announced earlier this year received development approvals from the Cass County Planning Commission on Monday, March 11.

Approvals for the redevelopment of the 27-acre resort property on Gull Lake, currently the site of Quarterdeck Resort, include a new, full-service lakefront lodge, a new lakefront restaurant and docking system.

Central Lakes College recently released the results of a study that estimates the economic impact of CLC on the regional economy to be $95 million and 1,252 jobs.

“In addition to focusing on the success of our students, CLC plays a vital role in supporting our state and regional economy,” said CLC president Larry Lundblad. “Our operations and the economic activity generated by our faculty, staff, and students touch virtually every corner of our regional economy and support local business and industry.”

The Crow Wing County Landfill Site will begin summer hours starting the first weekend in April and operate 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The county landfill takes household garbage but many residents do not realize the landfill will accept other items such as fiberglass boats, mattresses, furniture and mobile homes. The County Landfill also has a demolition landfill to dispose of demolition materials. Residents are also encouraged to use the free compost site to dispose of material from gardens, leaves, lawn clippings or branches.

Opening night at the Brainerd Lakes Chamber’s Brainerd Lakes Marketplace will include Party in the Park, an after-hours networking opportunity.

Starting at 6 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the Brainerd Area Civic Center, enjoy generous food samples from 10 area chefs, while also strolling among the Marketplace’s park-like setting and exploring the exhibitor booths and fun show offerings.
