For the second year in a row, Crow Wing County employees contributed the highest organizational total to the United Way of Crow Wing and southern Cass Counties. County employees just finished their annual United Way campaign and contributed more than $19,000 to United Way through payroll deductions throughout 2014. This year’s campaign theme was: “Celebrate Crow Wing County ... The Goodness Within.”
“This year’s campaign results once again reflect the giving spirit of county employees and demonstrate in one very real and tangible way how much county employees care about this community,” said County Administrator Tim Houle. “Maybe even more importantly, we reflected throughout this year’s United Way campaign on the countless other ways county employees give back to the community through donations of their time, talent or treasure, such as teaching Sunday school, being Scout leaders, Christmas caroling at nursing homes, cooking at the local Soup Kitchen, mission work through their churches and many others.
“Not only does this reflect how much we care about the health of this community, but I think we also receive so much more in the act of giving — we are all so much the better for what we can do for others and that may be the most important lesson of all. It makes me very proud to be associated with this group of caring and committed people. They are truly a blessing,” Houle said.
