Good Samaritan Society-Home Care and Hospice is making changes to accommodate a growing need for services.

Home Care and Hospice Director Kayla Farr is handing over the hospice reigns to focus on leading home care and LivingWell@Home technology services.

“As the population ages and we find new ways to deliver care and manage health at home, we anticipate home care services will just continue to grow,” said Farr. “The new technologies out there also make it an exciting time for innovation and change in how and where people age. That demands more time and attention. And, the same can be said of hospice care.”

With that in mind, Good Samaritan Society-Home Care and Hospice is dividing director duties to better focus on the two specific populations.

Farr will move into the role of home care director while Kelly Bonde takes on director duties for hospice. Hospice social worker Kris Kayser will transition into the hospice community liaison position responsible for creating awareness for what hospice care is about and serving as a local resource.

“There is kind of a misnomer out there that hospice maybe hastens death or lengthens life. Really, it simply helps people live in the moment,” said Kayser. “I am excited for the opportunity to show people what a wondrous gift that kind of perspective can be, especially when people come to us early.”

All three bring combined decades of experience to their positions. Farr has more than 24 years of experience with Good Samaritan Society in nursing and leadership. Kayser is a licensed social worker with the society for more than 15 years. And, Bonde’s more than 10-year nursing career has been focused in geriatrics, two of those with Good Samaritan Society-Hospice.

Good Samaritan Society-Home Care & Hospice, which has offices in Nisswa but serves the Brainerd lakes area, is owned and operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society.
