Kaylo Brooks was named the Minnesota MFIP Job Counselor of the Year at the Joint Counselors Training Conference held in Rochester.
The award was presented jointly by the Minnesota Department of Economic Development and the Department of Human Services.
Brooks was cited for her innovative work with MFIP Teen parents in Crow Wing County. The Teen Parent program assists young parents in achieving self sufficiency and family stability by providing intensive case management services. Crow Wing County has achieved high graduation, employment and exit rates.
Brooks was recognized for creating a support group for teens and creating curriculums on parenting and co-parenting.
Brooks has been a job counselor/social worker in the Employment and Economic Services Department for five years.
