Faith in Action for Cass County is seeking applicants to fill a VISTA member position for this upcoming year.
AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Authorized in 1964 and founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993.
VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a non-profit organization or local government agency, working to improve social services, strengthen community groups and more.
VISTA members receive a modest living allowance, health coverage, leave time, professional development opportunities and an end-of-service education benefit of $5,550 for college tuition or a service stipend of $1,500.
VISTA has been referred to as a “domestic Peace Corps.” The VISTA member commitment will support and enhance the services offered by Faith in Action for Cass County. Faith in Action seeks a VISTA member to help the organization grow and develop greater volunteer opportunities throughout Cass County.
