Dr. Frank B. Vasey, an experienced rheumatologist, has joined Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Brainerd Clinic.
Most recently, Vasey served as chief of the Rheumatology Division at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich. His 36-year career in academic and research posts includes chief of rheumatology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Fla., as well as work at the nearby James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Vasey grew up in Fargo, N.D., and attended the University of North Dakota before earning his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in Philadelphia.
He served an internal medicine residency at Highland Alameda County Hospital in Oakland, Calif., and fellowships in internal medicine and rheumatology at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec.
Vasey is board-certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in internal medicine and rheumatology.
