After becoming fit, a group of women decided to help others do the same and opened The Quest Nutrition Club in Pequot Lakes.
Briana Visser of Pequot Lakes and Brenda Steidler of Longville became friends while participating in a community weight loss program through Snap Fitness. The experience raised their awareness of health and wellness as a lifestyle commitment, Visser said.
The two women started as home-based distributors of protein shakes before opening The Quest Nutrition Club together in mid-February.
Visser’s daughter, Alexis, a Pequot Lakes High School senior, is an independent wellness coach with The Quest and explained how the business works.
The Quest offers first-time customers three drinks for free: a mango aloe shot, an energy tea and a meal replacement shake.
“It’s like putting aloe on a sunburn,” Alexis said of the aloe shot. “So you drink aloe to soothe your insides, your digestive system.”
The natural caffeine tea comes in various flavors, hot or cold, and is called cardio in a cup. It burns 100 calories, boosts metabolism, is an antioxidant and provides thermogenic benefits.
“The more you drink, the more you shrink,” Briana said.
The shake, Alexis said, is the star of the show. At 200 to 250 calories and boasting 24 grams of protein as well as vitamins and minerals, it’s a full meal replacement.
“It’s all good nutrition. And that’s what we’re all about is good nutrition,” Alexis said.
The shakes come in 22 different flavors with base flavors of vanilla, chocolate, wild berry and cookies and cream. The shake of the month in April is Cherry Dipped Cone.
The Quest follows a referral program. Customers receive three referral cards to hand out to friends, family and co-workers. When three cards are returned to The Quest, that person gets a free shake and more referral cards.
The business provides free wellness assessments and body nutrition scans to all customers. Briana, who owns Benvelle Equestrian Center with her husband, Dean, said The Quest plans to host fitness camps this summer at Benvelle. Participants will meet at The Quest, hike the half mile to Benvelle and do obstacle and agility courses in the woods on the property.
The Quest also works with other businesses, doing company highlights where a business is promoted with displays and on a certain day of the week that business’ employees can get a free meal at The Quest.
The Quest Nutrition Club is located in the building that houses Pequot Eye Center and American Family Insurance on Main Street/County Road 11. It is on the east side of the building and is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday with a possible expansion to Fridays in summer.
