Jim Hofer, vice chair of the Lakewood Health System (LHS) System Board, and Lana Hansen, member of the LHS District Board, took part in a voluntary hospital board member certification program through the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) at the MHA Trustee Winter Leadership Conference in January in Minneapolis.
The training helps trustees brush up on leadership skills and governance best practice methods. It also verifies trustees’ efforts to be informed about health care issues. As participants, Hofer and Hansen completed 35 education units in topics such as ethics, government regulations and patient safety and quality.
Hofer has served on the LHS System Board as vice chair since 2008. Hansen was elected to the District Board by the city of Motley in 2008.
With the certification of Hofer and Hansen, Lakewood now has six MHA certified trustees, the highest in the state.
