Abe Hollister and Jason Baca recently opened Hollister Family Farm in Jenkins, producing 100 percent grass fed and grass finished beef without any grain, antibiotics, hormones, implants, etc.
The farm’s philosophy is simple: “Provide from our pastures the highest quality, most nutritious, tender and tastiest beef possible to our customers in a way which improves the land and improves the health and eating experience of our customers.”
In the lake country, grass, trees and water are the three most plentiful resources. Hollister Family Farms strives to improve the soils, reduce nutrient runoff from pastures and turn the grass into tender and tasty beef.
The company sells directly to customers hamburger, quarters, halves and whole cows, and individual cuts can be bought at Crow Wing Food Co-op.
The farm is quite simple but upon request it’s always open if anybody wants to see the farm or try the burger. Meat is USDA processed. The farm is located just north of Pequot Lakes.
