An Emily man, Charles Weber, 33, was arrested in connection with several area burglaries and thefts, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported.
On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary to a business on Sawmill Road, Emily. While investigating this burglary, the responding deputy located another burglary on this road. Information was obtained about a possible suspect, Weber.
While following up on these leads, Weber was located on a stolen snowmobile and fled from law enforcement. Numerous law enforcement agencies conducted an intense search using snowmobiles to track Weber.
After several hours of searching and tracking the suspect through knee-deep snow, officers were able to locate and arrest Weber just north of Emily.
As a result of this investigation, it was discovered that Weber had burglarized two businesses and one garage along with stealing a snowmobile from a business in Outing. Investigating officers recovered property from these burglaries.
Weber was charged in October 2013 in Crow Wing County with numerous burglaries and thefts in the Emily area and was released on conditions. At the time of his arrest, he told investigators that he had court Wednesday, Feb. 12, for these previous charges.
Investigators assured Weber that he would make his court date.
Assisting in this investigation were the DNR and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
