The Jenkins City Council on Monday, Feb. 10, appointed Donna Stricker to fill the council seat left by Gary Brown at the time of his passing.
Stricker has lived in Jenkins for 35 years and has been an active part of the city nearly as long.
She and her husband own commercial land in the city and her son is the owner of AAA Rental in Jenkins.
She has not been on the Jenkins City Council before; however, she has participated in the Initiative Foundation’s Healthy Community Partnership in the past.
She also worked in the Jenkins City Hall office before Clerk Krista Okerman began while the city was transitioning.
“She’s been active in the city, just not to the council level,” Okerman said.
Stricker has been a member of the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association board for five years.
Her application to the council read, “I’d like to take a more active part in supporting those who have accepted responsibility for the direction of Jenkins.”
In other business Monday, the council:
• Agreed to donate $100 to the Pequot Lakes Grad Blast.
• Approved a request for proposal from potential city attorneys. The city will accept applications from those licensed to practice law with experience in municipal law through noon March 21.
