The Breezy Point City Council on Monday, Feb. 3, approved plans and specifications for sanitary sewer and paving on Creek Circle and Whitebirch Drive.
The paving and sewer prepare for the first phase of what will eventually be a 52-unit development off of Whitebirch Drive.
Plans for sewer and paving, created by Widseth Smith Nolting (WSN), show specifications for where sewer lines will run and how deep they will be. One line will run directly under the golf course to connect with existing sewer.
Mike Rude, engineer at WSN, said the installation will be trenchless, allowing the sewer lines to be installed without interrupting golf games.
“People will be walking over the top of it and not even know there’s construction going on,” Rude said.
Along with approving the plans, the council advertised for bids for the project, which will be opened Feb. 28.
Breezy Point Police Chief Kevin Merschman reported 147 calls for service in January. Those included, most notably, 43 traffic stops, three traffic arrests, seven accidents, seven medical calls, 29 agency assists and 46 miscellaneous calls.
In other business Monday, the council:
• Approved a seal coating schedule for 2014. Roads scheduled for seal coating in 2014 include portions of: North Birchwood Drive, North Pinewood Drive, North Spruce Drive, North Drive, North Lakeview Drive, Weavers Point Road, Wolf Lane, Gopher Lane and Fox Loop.
• Purchased wireless alarms for the city’s sanitary sewer lift stations. The alarms call staff when malfunctions or failures occur.
• Updated the city’s criminal history ordinance. Merschman said the update is a housekeeping item that won’t affect citizens.
• Agreed to allow city staff to trade their Columbus Day vacation day for the day after Christmas.
