The Breezy Point Police Department executed a search warrant on Oct. 29 south of Breezy Point, in rural Pequot Lakes, locating a stolen handgun that led to the arrest of Jayden Alexander Cardias, 18.
Cardias was charged with receiving stolen property, a felony.
According to the criminal complaint, officers searched the residence for a handgun reported stolen in Pine River. The complaint states that while officers were searching the residence, Cardias’ mother returned home and turned over the Charter Arms .44 Special revolver, which she said she had found in Cardias’ bedside table and confiscated.
Officers also found drug paraphernalia and a plastic bag containing marijuana residue in Cardias’ bedroom, the complaint states.
After clearing the residence, officers went to Cardias’ place of employment where he was arrested, according to the complaint.
The complaint goes on to state that Cardias stated he had purchased the gun from a juvenile for $60, that Cardias was aware it was stolen and that Cardias believed the juvenile had stolen the gun from a vehicle.
Online court documents show that Cardias was granted a public defender on Oct. 31 and his next court hearing is Dec. 18.
