Center for Lifelong Learning to host Vietnam presentation by veterans

Posted: October 29, 2013 - 5:38pm

The Center for Lifelong Learning will present a two-part program dealing with the contrast in Vietnam from the 1960-70s to the present day.

The first program, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, will recapture the U.S. involvement in the 10,000 Day War as seen through the eyes of four veterans who served in both support and frontline capacities. Following an explanation by Bob Brekken of how the United States became involved in the conflict, Bill Wroolie and Steve Rosenow from Brainerd, Butch Lund of Pine River and Ken Close of Staples will share their personal experiences.

Then, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, a panel of recent Vietnam visitors — Michael Hopps, Sandra Kaplan, Don Hickman and Butch Lund — will share their observations of political, economic and social realities of Vietnam today.

Both sessions will be in Room E354 of Central Lakes College, Brainerd Campus. Cost to attend this program is free for Center for Lifelong Learning members or $6 for non-members. Registration is required; call 218-855-8118.
