The Pine River Chamber of Commerce announced recently that the annual Pine River Parade of Lights Day will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, in Pine River. The theme for this year’s parade is “Plaid On Parade,” playing off Pine River’s new theme “Plaid On Purpose.”
The day will begin with wagon rides provided by Action Entertainment’s Doug Taylor from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pickup and dropoff points will be Gardiner’s Hardware Store and the Pine River American Legion.
The Pine River American Legion will host its annual “Lunch With Santa” for kids from 1-3 p.m. at the Legion with lots of prizes and goodies for the kids.
The annual Parade of Lights will begin at 5 p.m. with lineup at First Lutheran Church in Pine River. No pre-registration is necessary. The theme this year is “Plaid On Parade” with the hope that the float units will reflect the proud lumberjack/outdoor traditions that were and are Pine River.
Two $100 Chamber gift certificates will be awarded, one for the Best Use Of Theme and the other for Best Overall Use Of Lights.
The Chamber will host its annual Christmas Open House after the parade at the Information Center with a glowing bonfire nearby. Free Christmas cookies, hot cider, hot chocolate and coffee will be offered. There will also be snacks offered for sale by a local organization.
Fireworks are planned to cap off the festivities after the parade and open house at approximately 6:25 p.m. A drive to secure funds for the fireworks is under way and donations can be dropped off at the Pine River Chamber. Cost of the popular yearly display is more than $3,000.
Information for the event can be acquired by calling the Chamber at 218-587-4000.
