Minnesota's endangered, threatened and special concern species

Rich Baker, endangered species coordinator for the state of Minnesota, will review the components of the state’s Endangered Species Law and discuss the highlights of recent changes to Minnesota’s list of endangered, threatened and special concern species at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the kickoff of the 2013-14 Brainerd Environmental Learning Network (BAELN).

Following the presentation and discussion, there will be time for networking with the speaker and audience participants.

This event is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Crow Wing County Land Services Building, Meeting Room 2 (lower level), 322 Laurel St., Brainerd. The Land Services building is just south of the historic courthouse. Park in the Crow Wing County Visitor Parking Lot on the corner of Laurel and Fourth streets.

BAELN is offering its 11th year of professional development and timely information on environmental and sustainability issues for professionals and community members. This year’s theme is “Our Changing Environment: adaptation and mitigation.”

BAELN is a collaborative effort of Central Lakes College, Central Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, citizen representation, Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District, Initiative Foundation, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Transportation, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, The Nature Conservancy and University of Minnesota Extension.
