Pine River-Backus Scholarship Golf Scramble set for Sept. 8

Posted: September 3, 2013 - 5:39pm

Unlike schools in the southern part of the state, the 2013-14 school year started without heat-related meltdowns for Pine River-Backus Schools.

Students filed off buses to say hello to old friends, gain knowledge and start a new school year. Changes at the school include new elementary school Principal Rick Aulie, as well as other new teachers and staff members.

This year’s enrollment for grades K-6 is 479 students as compared to 459 at the end of the 2012-13 school year. There are 377 students enrolled in grades 7-12, a number comparable to last year. This year brought an influx of students in fourth grade and kindergarten.

This year’s new teachers are:

• Kate Eidenschink teaching social studies for grades 7 and 10.

• Ali Gilb teaching Early Childhood Special Education.

• Tammy Ott teaching grade 3.

• Tasha Halsted teaching grade 2.
