Brothers Maxx, 12, and Sam, 9, Stanton won the Cass County Fair talent show earlier this summer and found themselves taking their karate routine to the Minnesota State Fair.
Maxx and Sam took first place at the Aug. 28 semi-finals at the State Fair, and moved on to the Aug. 31 finals where they were eliminated. Maxx and Sam, who have been learning karate for six and five years, respectively, competed against singers, dancers and a pianist at the finals.
“I thought it was great. I thought it was a lot of fun. The boys loved it. They were excited even though they didn’t win,” said their mother, Julie Stanton.
The boys won $50 for their success. They are from Waconia where they study karate, but they spend their summers at Chickamaw Beach.
