Keegan Johnson recently spent a week at Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) campus.
Each camper is sponsored by his or her local Rotary club, and this year there were 148 RYLA campers sponsored by 56 Rotary International Clubs from District 5580. Central Lakes Rotary Club sponsored Johnson.
Most students who participated RYLA Camp will be high school seniors in 2013-14. Camp RYLA’s mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities. These activities provide numerous opportunities for leadership and team building, and they are designed to expand, improve and refine the participants’ leadership skills.
Campers are hosted by the Crookston Rotary Club, Rotary International District 5580 and UMC. They stay in the residence halls on campus during this week-long program.
Information about RYLA Camp is available by calling 218-464-1213 or at the RYLA website at www.district5580ryla.org.
