The Crow Wing County Land Services Department will host several information sessions designed for citizens to have a better understanding of land use permit requirements and the property tax assessment process.
Information sessions regarding land use will be held Monday, Aug. 12, at Ideal Town Hall from 10 a.m. to noon and at Lake Edward Town Hall from 1-3 p.m.
The ordinance follows a set of performance standards for lake lots that need to be adhered to as a condition for receiving land use permits from the county. These site-based performance standards apply practical approaches based on the actual characteristics of a property and are designed to achieve measurable results in achieving the goal of keeping lakes healthy. Rather than a one size fits all approach to land use, site specific performance standards such as storm water management, vegetated buffers and septic system maintenance are part of the ordinance requirements.
Information sessions to discuss the property tax assessment process will be held Monday, Aug. 12, at Lake Edward Town Hall from 10 a.m. to noon and at Ideal Town Hall from 1-3 p.m.
The policies and procedures the county must follow are determined by the state Legislature. These laws and rules are administered by the Department of Revenue in St. Paul.
