The public is invited to learn more about how they can help the lakes through shoreline improvement projects at the Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA) Shoreland Social Night, which will feature an open house format from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Moonlite Bay Restaurant in Crosslake.
Those who wish to be a part of WAPOA’s fifth annual Shoreland Contest can apply for up to $6,000 in funding for a project at a meeting from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Ideal Town Hall. Entrants should plan to bring photos of their shoreland challenges and meet with experts about answers.
The 2013 Shoreland Restoration Contest is open to the public, whether or not they are a WAPOA member, as long as they own property on either the Whitefish Chain or one of the outreach lakes where WAPOA does water quality testing. These include Ox, North and South Roosevelt, Smokey Hollow, Lawrence, Leavitt, Mitchell, Eagle, Kego, West and East Fox, Butterfield, Ruth, Mary, Emily, Goodrich, O’Brien, Velvet, Kimball, Ossawinnamakee, Star, Clear and Upper Hay lakes.
