The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) invites contractors to attend a half-day workshop where they will help complete lake-friendly stormwater and shoreline landscaping projects.
Contractors will be compensated $75 for helping with the installation and receive a training certificate (laminated wallet-size).
Two workshops will be offered at the following locations, dates and times:
• Wednesday, May 29, at Legionville Camp in Merrifield from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Thursday, June 13, at Big Trout Lake boat access in Manhattan Beach, off of County Road 66, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Workshops will begin with a short classroom session then move outdoors for the hands-on component. Participants will learn how to install coir logs, blanket and native plants.
The class will cover site prep and assessment, coir log and blanket installation, strategic planting and seeding, how to prevent failures, and permitting.
Registration is open until classes are filled (limited to 20 participants). Workshop recommended for contractors who want to gain the skills and experience necessary to tap into the growing demand for lake-friendly landscaping.
