Plain and Fancy
to open in Crosslake
At the corner of County Road 3 and County Road 103, Plain and Fancy will open Saturday, May 11, in Crosslake.
Dawn Greenfield, owner, said the store will have a little bit of everything, including furniture made from barn wood, custom cabinetry, repurposed furniture, Lafco candles and Wild Tree foods, a natural, organic food line similar to Tastefully Simple.
Greenfield said the business will be an occasional sale, meaning they’ll be open two or three weekends a month. The hours and weekends the business will be open are listed on its website, www.plainandfancycrosslake.com.
Greenfield said she strives to carry something for every price point, “some higher end, some completely affordable.”
Sommer in Crosslake to open
An offshoot of Pequot Lakes’ health food store, Seeds of Sommer, will open this month in Crosslake on County Road 3 next to Dairy Queen.
Sommer in Crosslake will carry similar merchandise as Seeds of Sommer, said store owner Deb Sommer, but will have less food and supplements and more clothing, incense, cards and candles.
Sommer’s daughter, Tanya Ryappy, will run the store. Ryappy said the store will carry local clothing, baby toys and books.
The store will also carry pottery from Pine River area potter Cyrus Swann.
Sommer said they hope to open the store by Wednesday, May 15, but will certainly open before Memorial Day.
The store is seasonal for now, with plans to potentially become a year-round business in Crosslake as it is in Pequot Lakes.
The Breezy Point bar and snow tubing site, PrimeTime, is under new ownership. Nathan Topp, Alex Martin and “Brian the bartender” are joint owners and reopened Friday, May 3, after closing for a few days.
Topp said by phone that they “changed the menu, but saved all the keepers.” He added that the restaurant will have better meats and everything will be fresh, not frozen.
Bands will play Friday nights, and Saturday nights there will be a DJ. Sunday nights are open mike and jam nights. PrimeTime will also feature weeknight happy hours and senior discounts Monday-Thursday.
Topp said some new lights were installed, the dance floor was renovated and there are some new decorations.
A grand re-opening will be from 2 p.m. to close Saturday, June 8. Bands set to play include Seth Doud, Emily Hammer and O for Show.
