The first Cars-n-Que event, hosted by Jr’s No. 19 in Pine River and held on Barclay Avenue, faced rainy, cold weather Saturday, May 4, but still attracted cars and barbecue lovers.

Of the barbecue competitors, TC’s Backyard Barbecue won first place, the Hungry Bear Barbecue team placed second, and Bullwinkle’s took third place. TC’s also won popular vote and the sides category.

Between the competing teams, 190 pounds of food was prepared.

The car show was separated into different categories. The winners for those categories are:

• 1897-1940, Ted Leggett’s 1938 Chevrolet Standard.

• 1941-1950, Steve Charpentier’s 1949 Plymouth Coupe.

• 1951-1960, Scott Kerfeld’s 1953 Chevrolet Belair 2-door.

• 1961-1970, Dave Palmquist’s 1967 Chevrolet Camaro.

• 1971-1980, Ron Evenson’s 1971 Plymouth Baracuda.

• 1981-current, Rick Rowell’s 1989 Chevrolet L98 Corvette.

• Popular Choice, Richard Treague’s 1995 Honda Civic.

• Collectors Choice, Scott Kerfeld’s 1953 Chevrolet Belair.
