RSVP volunteers donate more than $2.6 million worth of service to area residents

Volunteers with Crow Wing County’s RSVP Volunteer Services have donated more than 100,000 hours in service over the past 12 months, according to figures released by Mike Koecheler, Volunteer Services Director.

Based on a formula created by Independent Sector, a leadership network for non-profits, this equates to more than $2.6 million worth of service to the residents of Crow Wing County.

Koecheler reported that RSVP has 1,125 active volunteers serving at 80 non-profit partnership agencies. Sponsored by Crow Wing County Community Services, RSVP has been recognized by the Corporation for National and Community Services for being a cost-effective human service outreach program.

The report ranked RSVP No. 1 in the state for having the lowest staff to volunteer ratio — one staff per 1,125 volunteers — and the second largest volunteer pool in the state.

April 21-27 was National Volunteer Appreciation Week. Gwen Anderson, Health and Social Services Division manager, praised the many dedicated RSVP volunteers for their service to the residents of Crow Wing County.

“We have an amazing pool of talented and devoted volunteers in Crow Wing County. They provide services that really make a positive difference for the residents of our county,” she said.
