The Backus American Legion has successfully completed its annual compliance review conducted by the State Gambling Control Board.
As a result, no post review compliance meeting was required as are sometimes scheduled by the state to address serious deficiencies or violations by organizations conducting charitable gambling that can result in fines or gambling license suspensions.
“The actions taken by your organization sufficiently address the findings noted in that (compliance review) report,” state Gambling Control Compliance Specialist Gary Simonson said in a post audit letter to Legion Commander William Taylor. “Thank you for your cooperation during our review process.”
The Backus American Legion charitable gaming program reviewed by the state includes the post and its gaming site partners, Triolo’s Restaurant and Lounge and Willard’s Saloon and Eatery.
“We are satisfied that the state review shows that we not only continue to operate charitable gambling in compliance with state laws and regulations but with the kind of integrity that instills public confidence in our program,’’ said Taylor. “That enables us to raise and donate funds to a number of worthwhile causes in our area.’’
