Pequot Lakes High School junior Angela Cole was crowned Miss Pequot Lakes on Friday, April 5, in the high school auditorium at the 26th annual Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant.
Cheyenne Wilson, a senior, was crowned princess. Malyssa Engren, a junior, was chosen Miss Congeniality.
Fourth-grade escorts are Katie Nelson, queen escort; Leah Johnson, princess escort; and Megan Buffington, Miss Congeniality escort.
Other contestants were juniors Sarah Rudlang and Madison Davis-Biessener. Their escorts were fourth-graders Maliah Carlson and Jackalyn Fox.
All contestants and escorts, along with 2012 royalty, danced an opening number to a music montage from the movie “Pitch Perfect.”
The competition included casual conversation where contestants answered two questions each — one they had previously chosen and another surprise question; talent; and evening gown. Contestants had earlier personal interviews with the judges.
The 2013 royalty will represent Pequot Lakes at parades and festivities, and they will receive scholarships upon successful completion of their first semester of higher education.
The 2012 royalty included queen Jeannette Watt and her escort, Alexa Fyle; princess Josie Nistler and her escort, Mariah Beavers; and Miss Congeniality Kim Jessen and her escort, Mariah Rickard.
