The Pequot Lakes Business/Community Group in partnership with Friends of the Pequot Lakes Community Library will host the Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.
Miss Pequot Lakes 2012 Jeannette Watt will crown one of five area high school juniors and seniors as the area’s newest royalty.
Miss Pequot Lakes candidates are Sarah Rudlang, Cheyenne Wilson, Angela Cole, Madison Davis-Biessener and Malyssa Engren.
Tickets to the pageant are $5 at the door and include a cake and punch reception after the pageant.
The first appearance of the 2013 Miss Pequot Lakes will be during the Cherry Car Show on Saturday, June 1, at Trailside Park.
Escorts for the candidates are Maliah Carlson, Jackalyn Fox, Katie Nelson, Megan Buffington and Leah Johnson, fourth-graders at Eagle View Elementary School.
Three judges will review each contestant’s information before the pageant, as well as conduct an initial one-on-one interview with them.
At the event, the Miss Pequot Lakes contestants will be judged on presence in both casual wear and formal wear, as well as to their answers to an impromptu question and a performed talent.
Both the Miss Pequot Lakes contestants and escorts will perform an opening number at the pageant.
Master of ceremonies will be George Rasmussen, public relations director for Breezy Point Resort.
A few former Miss Pequot Lakes and Miss Pequot Lakes Princesses will be a part of the pageant program.
The Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant provides prizes to all participants, thanks to the support of area businesses and individual sponsors.
