A fruit tree pruning workshop will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Central Lakes College Ag and Energy Center Field Office, Staples.
The instructor is horticulturist/fruit scientist Thaddeus McCamant with Central Lakes College. He will discuss the basic techniques of pruning and training apple and plum trees.
Participants will be given the opportunity to prune live trees at the demonstration orchard, which includes multiple varieties of vigorous and low vigor apples and plums.
Also, viticulture instructor Dennis Emslie Drummond will provide a brief introduction to pruning wine grapes.
This is the second in a series of workshops on orchard management in cold climates.
