The Jenkins Town Board will build a new town hall on the current site at a cost not to exceed $75,000.
Jenkins Town Clerk Bill Savage said 16 residents attended the township’s annual meeting March 12 and all voted in favor of a new town hall.
The new building will be 50 percent bigger and will include restrooms and running water, as well as a full basement.
It’s hoped construction will start in mid-June, Savage said. While the facility is being built, the town board will meet temporarily at Jenkins City Hall.
The town board will talk about contractors at its next meeting, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at town hall.
Savage said tentative plans are to give the current town hall building to the city of Jenkins as a historical building.
