A summer apprenticeship position for a young adult age 18-25 is available in Brainerd at the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) through the Conservation Corps of Minnesota.
Apprentices spend their summer working alongside natural resource professionals. The goal is to train and mentor future conservation professionals by providing apprenticeship service opportunities to SWCDs.
Service conducted through this apprenticeship will include environmental education and outreach to landowners; collection of lake and stream water quality samples; identification of native plants and nonnative invasive plants; and installation, maintenance and inspection of erosion control and shoreline stabilization projects in Crow Wing County.
Training and mentorship are available to support the apprentice.
Apprentices will serve as AmeriCorps members and will receive a monthly living stipend and an education award of $1,468 to use toward qualifying education and student loan expenses. The member will serve from May 20 through Aug. 23.
Crow Wing SWCD is one of 35 placement sites throughout the state. The program is funded through the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resource Trust Fund and Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources.
