A nursing assistant course will be offered in Pine River March 18 through May 8.
Central Lakes College is offering this course at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Village, Pine River, from noon to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
The three-credit nursing assistant course introduces concepts of basic human needs, health/illness continuum and basic nursing skills. Skills are demonstrated and practiced in a supervised laboratory setting.
This course allows for practical application of skills in a nursing care setting and meets government requirements for placement on the state registry.
Scholarships are available for students from central Cass County taking this class. Contact the CLC Foundation at 218-855-8129 to find out how much you will qualify for. Funding was developed especially for local CLC classes by the Pine River-Backus School District, Cass County Economic Development Corporation and many local donors.
There is room for up to 20 students. This is an opportunity to start training for a career in the health care industry. The average wage for a certified nursing assistant is $11.84 per hour in this area.
Students must complete with a grade of “C” or better to pass, and attendance is mandatory. No more than four hours may be missed.
