New this year, all racers participating in the 5K race distance or longer have the option of choosing women’s or men’s fit race shirts rather than the generic fit that has been offered in the past. Post-race activities Saturday, April 27, have been enhanced to include The 27th Mile Awards Ceremony & Celebration.
In the first five years of the Brainerd Jaycees Run for the Lakes race events more than $20,000 has been donated to various nonprofit causes. The main beneficiary of this year’s race proceeds will be the Power Packs program for youth in the area middle schools. Power Packs are bags that consist of 3-5 pounds of nutritious, non-perishable food products. The Packs also include literature on nutrition, activities and tips on how to develop healthy eating habits. The program is based on income guidelines and is free to families that wish to participate.
