Representatives from the Science Museum of Minnesota visited Eagle View Elementary School on Wednesday, Feb. 6, and presented assemblies to all grades.

In March, the tables will turn and all of the school’s fourth-graders will pay the museum a visit. An outside company is sponsoring the trip, which includes a sleepover among the exhibits.

Flint Hills Resources is the sponsor for the activities, part of its Science Matters Outreach program. Eagle View is one of 15 schools picked for the program, out of 125 schools that applied.

The Feb. 6 assemblies included a presentation about dinosaurs for school readiness classes, kindergartners and first-graders, and a presentation about solids, liquids and gases for all second- to fourth-graders.

On March 7-8, fourth-grade students will travel to St. Paul for a one-hour tour of the state capitol building, a pizza buffet, exploration of the museum, camping among the exhibits, breakfast, a presentation and a viewing of “Tornado Alley” in the Omnitheater.

Flint Hills Resources is a refining, chemicals and biofuels company with facilities in Minnesota.
