The Backus American Legion was recognized for exceeding its membership goal of 114 at a breakfast for National Legion Commander James Koutz of Indiana hosted by the Walker American Legion on Feb. 5, during Koutz’s four-day tour of posts in Minnesota.
The Backus post for the fourth year in a row also was also selected in 2012 as the top small post in the Sixth Legion District, which includes a large portion of central and northern Minnesota.
