The city of Manhattan Beach passed its 2013 levy in the amount of $70,000, which is $10,000 lower than the 2012 city levy.
The levy was lowered when it was accepted in its preliminary form Sept. 4. Minutes from the Sept. 4 meeting show that the city often did not use all the funds it had budgeted, which was one reason for lowering the levy.
The $10,000 drop between the 2012 and 2013 levies represents a 12.5 percent reduction in the levy.
The final levy was passed unanimously at the council’s regular meeting Dec. 4.
