Jenkins’ certified levy for 2013 is $239,468, which is $3,432 less than the preliminary levy set last fall, said city clerk Krista Okerman.
This amount is $11,058 more than 2012’s $228,410 levy. Okerman explained that the increase was largely due to future street projects planned as far ahead as 2015.
Though plans have yet to be finalized, these projects could include adding material to gravel roads and repairing and overlaying some Jenkins streets.
This year’s levy is an approximate 1 percent increase. This compares to a 5 percent decrease from $241,546.00 to $228,410.00 between 2011 and 2012, a 0 percent change between 2010 and 2011 and a 2 percent increase from $236,546 to $241,546 between 2009 and 2010.
