The Jenkins City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, to discuss candidates for a vacancy on the council.
Though two council members’ terms are up at the end of the year, only one member, Gary Hart, filed for re-election in November. Council member Dale Daudt did not file.
The council set the meeting date and time during its regular monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 10.
City Clerk Krista Okerman reported that the city had some write-in candidates at the election, but even those represented a five-way tie. If one write-in candidate did have the majority, that candidate would still need to accept the position.
In other business Monday, the council:
• Heard a report from Okerman regarding zoning and site inspections she completed. All inspections met compliance with Jenkins zoning regulations.
• Set a final budget workshop for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, with a special meeting directly following to approve the final operating budget and levy for 2013.
