Chefs Hat: Stuffed Shells

Stuffed Shells

15 jumbo pasta shells

1 large egg

2 cups small curd cottage cheese

3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/2 pound Italian sausage

1/2 tablespoon parsley

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon basil

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Spaghetti or marinara sauce (bottled)

Cook pasta shells according to package directions. Drain and set aside. Cook sausage until brown and crumbly, drain off grease and set aside.

Beat egg in a medium sized bowl. Add cottage cheese, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, sausage, parsley, oregano, basil and pepper.

Arrange pasta shells in a 9x12-inch baking dish. Fill shells with sausage mixture, sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheeses on top.

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and slightly brown.
