Grace United Methodist to host all-you-can-eat pasty dinner

Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes will hold its 12th annual Spring All-You-Can-Eat Pasty Dinner from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 17.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-11 and free for children under 6.

Iron-Range style pasties are served piping hot from the oven, along with coleslaw, drink, dessert and a variety of toppings.

No reservations are necessary. Proceeds will benefit local church missions and programs.

A free event to increase heart disease awareness will include a full day of tips for lifestyle changes that will set participants on a path toward more heart-healthy lives.

“Get Your Heart Racing” is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes. It’s a daylong program featuring sessions that will address the basics for decreasing risks for heart disease.

Crosslake

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s biggest fundraiser. Everyone relays for different reasons.

For the fifth year, I and my teammates, the Crosslake Curettes, will celebrate survival of family members and friends, remember loved ones lost and fight back beside others who have been touched by cancer.

We have much to celebrate this year! That’s what we all will be doing along with the survivors.

The Pine River senior citizens meet every Tuesday for games at the Legion for 500 and at Heartland Apartments for dominoes beginning at 1 p.m. Blood pressures are taken the second Tuesday of the month at the Legion. New players are always welcome.
