Girl Scouts donate cookies to food shelf

Pequot Lakes Junior Girl Scout Troop 322 ended the Girl Scout Cookie sales period with nine boxes left over. Instead of buying those boxes themselves, the Girl Scouts decided to donate them to the food shelf. The troop includes, back row, Hannah Brown, Hailey Carlson, Madison Fulton, Ashley Huseby and Sydney Dorion; front row, Rachel Kottschade, Ella Nies and Brooklyn Dean.

The Nisswa Lions Club will celebrate 40 years of service to the Nisswa community with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Nisswa Community Center.

International Lions Director Brian Sheehan from Bird Island will be the keynote speaker.

With a club motto of “We Serve,” the Lions Club International is the world’s largest service club organization with 45,500 clubs in 205 countries with nearly 1.4 million members. Lions Club International was founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones and is headquartered in Oak Brook, Ill.

May 4: Open to students in 5th-12th grade from 7-10 p.m.

May 6: Adult open gym basketball from 7-9 p.m., no cost or pre-registration required.
