The Brainerd Deanery Council of Catholic Women Spring Conference will be April 16 with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Brainerd.

Cost is $12, which includes morning snack and lunch. Welcome will be at 9:30 a.m. Leona Barten, past diocese and province president, will speak on “Daughters of Mary.” Mass will be at 11 a.m. Lunch will be at noon. Meeting will begin at 1:15 p.m., which will include silent auction results.

Every year the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota assesses the state of mentoring in Minnesota.

The 2011 findings are very similar to what is seen in the local Kinship Partners service area of Crow Wing County, southern Cass County and the Staples-Motley communities.

The need for quality mentoring continues to grow as families struggle economically and seek safe places to live. Within the survey, 196,592 young people had access to mentoring experiences in 88 mentor programs. Nearly 75 percent of these experiences last at least nine months.

The Pequot Lakes American Legion Auxiliary and Post No. 49 will host an Easter Party for children ages 10 and younger from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Children will receive a free hot dog, juice box, chips, ice cream cup and treat bag. The Legion seeks a $3 donation from those older than age 10.

All proceeds will go to the local food shelf. The Easter Bunny will be there to greet the children.
