to host dance,

dinner April 21

The Backus American Legion’s monthly Sunday dance and dinner will be held Sunday, April 21.

Frankie Lamb’s band returns, playing classic country, pop, old time and swing from 2-6 p.m. An oven-fried chicken dinner will follow from 6 p.m. until gone with mashed potatoes, gravy, a vegetable, dinner roll, dessert and coffee for $8.

Dinner proceeds go toward 4-H prize premiums at the Cass County Fair.

The Nisswa Women’s Club will hold its monthly membership meeting at noon Thursday, April 18, with a social time from 11:30 a.m. to noon, at the Breezy Point Marina II at Breezy Point Resort.

The program, “Miracle in Wadena,” will be presented by Cindy Wood, tornado survivor.

Hostesses for the meeting are Becky Stover, Pat Moore Johnson, Marty Urban, Betty Bruning and Audrey Wessman. Jeanyne Hess will give the inspirational.

Tom Nelson, Pequot Lakes fire chief, and Jason Reiber, Breezy Point police officer and first responder, delivered an interesting and informative talk Wednesday, April 3, to the Breezy Point Area Women’s Club at the Pelican Lakes Conservation Club, Breezy Point.

Area residents owe their appreciation and, sometimes literally, their lives to the personal dedication and extensive training of these organizations.

The fifth annual “Final Gift” workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the Friendship Hall at Union UCC Church in Hackensack, co-sponsored by St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Participants will assemble a notebook with their written instructions and wishes regarding their own death, which will be available to their families at a time when decision-making can be a burden in a time of grief.
