Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Crosslake celebrated its 58th anniversary and combined the celebration with an event that is part of the Catholic Year of Faith as proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI.
As part of the Year of Faith, Catholics are urged to make a pilgrimage to the place of their baptism and renew their vows.
The parish participated in a Eucharistic procession with prayers and songs, from the current church on County Road 37 to the site of the original church on County Road 66.
Once there, Father Ryan Moravitz led the congregation in renewing its baptismal promises and gave a brief homily recognizing the establishment of the church in Crosslake.
The congregation processed back to the church for the celebration of Benediction.
