According to the 1939 Pequonian, the Pequot Lakes High School yearbook: “1939 - Six man football was inaugurated as a regular part of Pequot High’s inter-scholastic sports program. The game, something new to this part of the country, proved to be of great interest to player and spectator alike. The squad made a very fine showing winning four out of five games.”
