Caregivers support class begins Sept. 9 in Walker

Faith in Action for Cass County and Horizon Health Faith in Action will sponsor the six-week Powerful Tools for Caregivers class at 1 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 9, at the Walker Area Community Center, 105 Tower Ave., Walker.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a class designed to provide caregivers with the skills needed to take care of themselves as caregivers and increase their confidence to provide care in difficult situations.

Theresa Eclov and Krisie Charnley, licensed social worker, certified Powerful Tools class leaders, will share tools and resources to help participants reduce stress, improve self-confidence, balance their life, better communicate their feelings, increase ability to make decisions and learn to locate helpful resources.

Class materials include “The Caregiver Helpbook,” specifically designed for this evidence-based course, funded in part through the Central Minnesota Council on Aging. Class-time care for a family member may be requested through Faith in Action respite services at no cost.

Pre-registration is required. For information, contact Theresa Eclov, Faith in Action for Cass County, at 866-675-5435 or
