Forrest Benjamin Spieler, a “country doctor” with a family practice in Pequot Lakes since 1956, died Jan. 29 at age 82.
Angie Evenson and Mary Koch of the Pequot Lakes Indians girls’ basketball team, Gene Hamilton of the Pine River-Backus Tigers boys’ team and Heather Annand of the Tigers girls’ team were named Athletes of the Week for the Lake Country Echo and Pine River Journal.

Brianna Maher, a sophomore at Pequot Lakes High School, will travel to Australia and New Zealand this summer as a Student Ambassador.
Pequot Lakes School Board member Brad Wallace was named to the Minnesota All-State school board.
