Anna Marie Haberer and Lynn Hall recently attended the Minnesota Department American Legion Auxiliary Convention in Morton.
Guest speaker was the national American Legion Auxiliary president, Kris Nelson, who lives in Baxter.
The Nisswa Auxiliary received the following awards: The Glen H. Dornfeld Children and Youth Plaque, Starr Community Service Plaque and Stickley Gifford Plaque for Junior History.
Each year the department president hands out the Presidential Award of Excellent. The Nisswa unit received one for its Children and Youth program, Community Service program and the Juniors Program.
Also at the convention, the American Legion presented Nisswa fire chief Richard Geike his award for being selected as the Minnesota American Legion Firefighter of the Year.
