The Arc United, a nonprofit organization providing services to people with disabilities, will sponsor a conference on autism from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
The conference will provide information on Navigating the Service System, The IEP, Special Needs Trust, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Sensory Integration.
Featured speakers will be Stacy Dinner-Levin, parent and playwright, who will show clips and moderate a discussion of the much honored “Autistic License,” her full-length play about her family’s journey to raise their son with autism.
The former Miss Minnesota Natalie Davis and her brother, Trevor, a young adult with autism, will discuss their relationship and his dream of becoming a children’s author. Trevor’s books will be available for purchase and signing.
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit with vendors/exhibitors and receive additional resources. Registration is $25 for parents/caregivers/students and $40 for professionals. This includes refreshments, lunch, training materials and a certificate of attendance for continuing education purposes. The registration deadline is Sept. 24.
